Who is Maa Kushmanda?
The fourth form of Navdurga is Maa Kushmanda. She is the creator of Brahmand and emanates a solar-like aura.
As the name Kushmanda symbolizes Ku means little, Ushma means energy and Anda means cosmic egg. Here the cosmic egg is represented as the whole universe. She is the core energy provider to the Sun and resides in solar systems. She ends the darkness with her divine smile. She shines brightly in all ten directions like the sun.
Maa Kushmanda has 8 hands; because of that, she is also known as Ashtabhuja Devi. 7 types of weapons are shining in her 7 hands. The Rosary is in her right hand. She has Kamandal, Dhanush, Bada, and Kamal in the right hands and Amrit Kalash, Jap Mala, Gada, and Chakra in the left hands in that order. Her one hand is always on Abhaya mudra from which she blesses all her devotees.
She can be seen riding a lioness. The abode of Maa “Kushmanda” is in Bhima Parvat. Navratri’s 4th night is worshipped Maa Kushmanda.
